Chennai: Commuters complain about lack of maintenance, bad lighting and infrequent train service.
Even after opening with great enthusiasm, there are several unsolved complaints forum commuters. Lack of facilities at the MRTS station . At Thiruvanmiyur the common complaint is the lack of facilities, bad lighting and infrequent train service.
Abudl Wahab, who commutes to Chepauk, puts it succinctly: "We are thankful to the railways for the MRTS. But the lack of basic facilities is a sore point. Lights are inadequate. There is only one lift and an escalator, but they are not in regular use. There is also no toilet." He said empty bogies were being run in the Tirumayilai Beach section. "Instead, they can increase the frequency of the trains from Thiruvanmiyur. There are two tracks and the station here has the infrastructure. Why is there no time management?" he asked.
A resident of Perunguidi who commutes between Thiruvanmiyur and Chindadripet daily says the railways should do something to increase the frequency of the service. She also felt that there is a need for a separate ladies compartment.
A high court employee said, "Paper, covers and other trash are strewn on the staircase and floor. Paan stains on the floor, pillars and corners of walls add to the mess."
There was no regular announcement of the arrival of the train at the station. "Sometimes, they announce that the train is 10 minutes late after it has arrived here."
Five days a week train service was inconvenient.
Foot overbridege outside the station would be of immense help to people to cross over to
the station.
During the rainy season, the station floor and steps become slippery. No one bother.
There is a foul smell when water stagnates in the underground parking lot.
Once you step out of the station, there is no bus facility to reach places such as
Perungudi, Thiruvanmiyur, Thoraipakkam.
Mr. Somasundaram, chief administration officer of the Metropolitan Transport Project, said "the frequency of the train would be increased when the service is extended to Vellachery in March. Still the work is in progress, materials are scattered. Everything will be cleared by this January." He has instructed the electrical engineers to attend to the problem immediately.
What the Chief Administration Officer is doing, without taking on the spot action to rectify the possible solution. He can call the cleaners to clean. He can call the electricians to put the lights. He can call some helpers to remove the scattered materials to a dumping yard. He is taking months long time which can be done with in a hour by an ordingary supervisor. It is a question about the quality of the Admin Office. Cocern authority should take action against the officer incharge. The public only to decide and inform the Govt.
