Cops fail to register Complaint |
A 56 year old woman has been running from Pillar to post to get her police complaint registered against a couple who allegedly stole her baggage containing new clothes at a shop in Purasawalkam in December 2009. Devi Varadharajan of Perambur took the CD of CCTV grab that shows a couple taking a bag containing the cloths bought. She approached the Vepery police staion and was sent to the Kilpauk Police staion. The police said "many people were waiting to register cases involving the loss of property and goods worth several crores of rupees". |

Police commissioner T. Rajendran attributed the failure to file a chargesheet to "some technical reasons" including delay in the forensic report. As the city cyber crime section of the central crime branch failed to file a chargesheet against Wilhelmus even 90 days after his arrest, he became eligible to claim release on bail as a mater of right. As per section 167(2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, in the event of nonfilling of chargesheet within the mandatory period, bail becomes an idefensible right of the accused. |

Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and AntiCorruption on Wednesday arrested an Inspector of Police for allegedly taking bribe from a mobile juice ventor.>
D. Tirumalai of Vilippuram dist has been selling juice in a pushcart around Egmore area for the last three years. On Tuesday, he approached the DVAC Deputy Superintendent of Police, K. Ponnuchamy, and lodged a complain that the Inspector ( Egmore - Traffic), SA. Arockiadass, had demandedRs. 3,--- as bribe from him. A special team led by Mr. Ponnuchamy laid a trap and arrested Arockadass soon after he asked Tirumalai to keep the cash in the dash board of his official car. "The money was recovered intact. Three cops suspended for being durnk on duty:
The incident came to light when Anna Nagar deputy commissioner of police MT Ganesamoorthy made a surprise check. Police sources said several crime wing personnel consumed liquor inside the station; they had converted it into a bar. This irked many residents who came there to lode complaint. - The Hindu |

Job scam in High Court busted:
The central crime branch of the city police on 21st exposted a major job racket in the Madras high court and arrested a former employee of the court along with two brokers. The racketeers, who have been operating for more than a year, have cheated more than 40 persons to the tune of several lakhs promising them jobs in the court. CCB sources told.
The racket was exposed when Sadique Basha of Tambaram, who was cheated after paying the first installment of Rs. 60,000 for a job for his wife in the high court, lodged a complaint with the CCB. |

COP SUSPENDED FOR STEALING BIKES:

Sonai Muthu, a grade 1 constable attached to the crime wing of Sembiam police station, had given one of the bikes to a mechanic to be sold off and has been using the other one.
Muthu ws found guilty after inquiry prompted by an anonymous petition to pulianthope deputy police commissioner . On his toutine rounds, noticed the vehicle and took it to his residence at Sembium police quarters for a few days. He kept a watch on complaints of two-wheeler thefts. When no complaint regrding the bike was filed, he got the bike painted with a new colour and stated using it.
